Fourth Grade Class Learns of Local Homesteader

Buckskin Charlie White, a homesteader in the Henderson precinct, was given this nickname because he always wore buckskin clothing. He made his own pants, shirt, and coat out of deer hides that he tanned himself. This week the fourth grade class had a visit from Mr. Dave Ehly who entertained them with tales of the adventures of Buckskin Charlie. This fit in perfectly with everything the students are learning about in Nebraska studies this year. They loved seeing a variety of hides and fur. The students thought that his deer calls and turkey calls were even better than Duck Dynasty!
