Four Heartland FBLA Members Win National Awards

NLC in Atlanta, Georgia

    More than 9,380 of America’s best and brightest high school students traveled to the Peach State to CONNECT with top future business leaders and showcase their talents as they competed for the opportunity to win more than $179,000 in cash awards.

    The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference was held June 29 to July 2.  Participants from across the U.S. and abroad attended this exciting conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in more than 65 business and business-related competitive events.  Leslie Braun, Kristine Goertzen, Ethan Hall, Haley Huebert, Rebekah Larson, Brittany Quiring, Ellie Steingard, Eve Vanderneck, Brooke Weisheit and Owen Wurst along with adviser Kristy Most attended the conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Ethan Hall, Haley Huebert and Owen Wurst received national recognition at the FBLA Awards of Excellence Program on July 2.  These students competed in Entrepreneurship and brought home fourth place and a $400 cash award.  This was the group’s third time attending a National Leadership Conference.  Ethan placed seventh in Introduction to Business as a freshman and competed in Accounting I as a sophomore.  Haley and Owen competed in Introduction to Business as freshmen and Global Business as juniors.

    Leslie Braun competed in Business Law and brought home sixth place.  This was Leslie’s third time attending a National Leadership Conference.  She placed tenth in Introduction to Business as a freshman and competed in Accounting I as a sophomore.

    Also competing at Nationals were Rebekah Larson and Eve Vanderneck in Job Interview, Brooke Weisheit and Ellie Steingard in Sports and Entertainment Management and Kristine Goertzen and Brittany Quiring in Word Processing.

    The group enjoyed the following activities during the week:  World of Coca-Cola, Inside CNN Studio Tour, Atlanta Braves baseball game, Friday Night Fireworks, Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, Georgia Aquarium, College Football Hall of Fame and the Centennial Olympic Park.
