Launch the media gallery 1 player - media #4The Heartland Quiz Bowl Teams traveled to SCC in Milford on March 18 to participate in the Southern Nebraska Conference Quiz Bowl Tournament. Twenty teams from all 11 conference schools were in attendance. After each team participated in a practice round, the double elimination tournament began.
The B team lost in their first round match, but then won two matches before being eliminated.
The A team won their first match against Sutton 95-25 and never looked back. With victories against Thayer Central, Sutton, David City, and Wilber-Clatonia, the team was the the winner of the winners bracket. After watching the final match of the losers bracket, Heartland found themselves facing David City for the championship. The Huskies dominated the match from the beginning and ended up winning by a score of 90-10!
The A team made up of Ben Janzen, Nick Thieszen, Austin Schmidt, and Tara Buzek outscored their opponents 610-130 in a total of seven matches.
The team will travel to Lawrence-Nelson next Wednesday.
