The Heartland third graders enjoyed a field trip to the Hastings Museum on Wednesday, April 24. They learned about Edwin Perkins and how he made Kool-Aid successful. The Heartland Band and Choir students performed at the 2024 District Music Contest on April 18 and 19 in Milford. Thursday held the vocal performances, and Friday was band selections. The Heartland FFA competed and participated in the Nebraska State FFA Convention April 3-5. Members who attended state convention had the opportunity to engage in competitions, attend sessions, participate in workshops, help with the courtesy corp, and package food for those less fortunate. On Monday, April 8, the Heartland National Honor Society held their induction ceremony. Twenty-five sophomores joined the chapter, and 11 seniors were honored with their gold cords for graduation. The Heartland preschoolers had a special visit this week from children's book author Tammy Stuhr. Tammy read her book, "Jax Dreams of Heaven," to the class with interaction from the students. On March 25, FFA and community members gathered to attend the Heartland FFA shop party. Community members had the opportunity to purchase a hamburger meal as well as a bidder’s ticket. A total of 179 burger meals were sold. Those who purchased a bidder’s ticket could walk around the ag classroom and bid on items that were provided by FFA members.
