Heartland Quiz Bowl Qualifies for State Competition
State Quiz Bowl Date Wednesday, April 26th
The Heartland Quiz Bowl competed at the ESU6 Quiz Bowl meet in Seward on Wednesday, March 29th. Two teams of four competed including team captain, Ethan Hall, and his teammates Leslie Braun, Aaron Buller, and Colton Monnier, and team captain, Kyle Ott, and his team Brooke Weisheit, Isabelle Vanderneck, and Noah Hiebner. After winning one game in the three-game pool play, the Heartland B team, led by Ott, was seeded 12th and lost their first round in a close match against NE Lutheran A (5th seed) 25 to 30. The Heartland A team led by Hall was seeded 4th after two wins and one loss in the pool play, but came back to beat 13th seed Centennial B, 5th seed NE Lutheran A, and 1st seed Friend A all before defeating NE Lutheran B in the championship match with one 10-point question (60 to 50). With the win, Heartland has the opportunity to compete in the state tournament in Holdrege, NE on Wednesday, April 26th! Congratulations Heartland Huskies!
