HEARTLAND FBLA’S ENTREPRENEURSHIP TEAM WINS A NATIONAL AWARD

    More than 9,600 of America’s best and brightest high school students traveled to Southern California to establish their own Legacy of Leadership as they competed for the opportunity to win more than $170,000 in cash awards.

    The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference was held June 29–July 2. Participants from across the United States and abroad attended this exciting conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in more than 70 business and business-related competitive events.  Leslie Braun, Ethan Hall, Aaron Buller, Brittany Quiring, Odessa Ohrt and Jackson Stebbing along with chaperone Nora Ohrt attended the conference in Anaheim, California. 

    Senior Leslie Braun, Senior Ethan Hall and Junior Aaron Buller received national recognition at the FBLA Awards of Excellence Program on July 2.  These students competed in Entrepreneurship and brought home seventh place.  This was Leslie and Ethan’s fourth time attending a National Leadership Conference.  Leslie placed tenth in Introduction to Business as a freshman, competed in Accounting I as a sophomore, and placed sixth in Business Law as a junior.  Ethan placed seventh in Introduction to Business as a freshman, competed in Accounting I as a sophomore, and placed fourth in Entrepreneurship as a junior.  This was Aaron’s second time attending a National Leadership Conference.  He competed in Introduction to Information Technology as a freshman. 

    Also competing at Nationals were Junior Brittany Quiring in Personal Finance and Freshmen Odessa Ohrt and Jackson Stebbing in Introduction to Business.

    The group enjoyed the following activities during the week:  Disneyland and California Adventure, Universal Studios Hollywood, Anaheim Angels baseball game, and an afternoon at Newport Beach/Balboa Island.
