HCDC Prepares to Move Into New Early Childhood Facility
Henderson Child Development Center (HCDC), a nonprofit childcare organization established in 2017, is excited to announce its upcoming move to the new early childhood building on the Heartland Community Schools campus. Currently operating at full capacity with 12 children, HCDC will soon be licensed to serve up to 40 children in its new space. The move is expected in late August or early September.
HCDC provides care for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years, with a mission to offer safe, nurturing, and high-quality early education in an inclusive and supportive environment. Led by Director Lexy Gyhra and a dedicated board, HCDC is committed to helping families thrive and supporting the growth of our rural community.
To accommodate expansion, HCDC is hiring for multiple positions, including head teachers, assistant teachers, support staff, and a head cook. Those interested in applying can email Lexy at lexygyhra.hcdc@gmail.com. Families seeking care are encouraged to join the waiting list by requesting enrollment information from Lexy as well.
To help cover the costs of tripling in size, the HCDC board launched a capital campaign in June. Funds are needed for furniture, curriculum materials, and business essentials to meet licensing requirements. While early fundraising efforts and grants have provided a strong start, additional support is needed to reach the campaign goal. To contribute or become a campaign partner, please contact hendersoncdc@gmail.com or send donations to PO Box 15, Henderson, NE 68371. This is an exciting chapter for HCDC and the Heartland community. The new center will provide a warm, engaging space where children can learn, grow, and feel safe—now and into the future.
