DAYCARE WORK ZONE EXPANDED - WILL IMPACT DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES

At 9 AM tomorrow (Thursday, March 27th) the work zone around the daycare building will be expanded so that necessary work can be completed. The work zone will be extended to the west (to the school building) and to the south (to the curb).  Due to the work zone expansion, there will not be a path of travel to the playground (east side of the school building) from the south side of the building.

This work zone expansion will begin AFTER the AM drop off period on Thursday, March 27th - that is to say that Thursday's AM drop off will not be affected.  We anticipate the expansion of the work zone to last approximately 3 weeks.  Once enough work has been completed, we will move the work zone back to once again allow a path of travel to the playground (east side of the building) from the south side of the building.

The most immediate impact on parents will be related to AM drop off and PM pick up procedures.  Staff have planned for how to accommodate building egress and playground access during the school day.

Below is some information for parents and the general public to consider or to be aware of.

Before School:
  1. As a reminder, students should not arrive before 7:45 a.m.
  2. ALL K-6 students will enter the building through the main south entrance. Students will then either walk to the cafeteria for breakfast or walk through the building to access the playground.
  3. ALL K-6 students will access the playground from the building before school through classroom #3 (Mrs. Regier/Ms. Peters).
  4. ALL preschool students will need to be brought inside the building through the main south entrance and brought directly to Room #2 (Mrs. Buller).

After School:
  1. All students, except for Kindergarten, will exit through the main entrance doors at the end of the day.
  2. Kindergarten students will continue to exit through door #1 (Mrs. Thiesen's south-facing exterior door).
  3. Preschool parents will need to enter the school front lobby to pick up your preschool child(ren). Preschool children will be brought to the lobby for parents to pick up.
  4. Parents (aside from Preschool) will be asked to wait outside for children to exit the building.
  5. The Red “Front Exit” sign will be posted on the doors in the main entrance as a reminder that students will be exiting through the main entrance doors at the end of the day.

Preschool:
  1. Dropping Off.  ALL preschool students will need to be brought inside the building through the main south entrance doors and brought directly to Room #2 (Mrs. Buller).
  2. Picking Up.  ALL preschool parents who pick up their child(ren) will need to enter the school's main south lobby to pick up your preschool child(ren). Preschool children will be brought to the lobby for parents to pick up.

General Parking Lot:
  1. Access to the playground is not available from the south.
  2. The sidewalk area that runs along the north edge of the circle drive near the building will not be usable.  A temporary walkway will be constructed adjacent to that area using cones.
  3. Since pedestrians may be walking between sets of cones these areas will become a no-parking areas.
  4. Do not park in areas where cones are set up.
  5. The parking lot will be come a little more congested while this work zone expansion is being utilized.
  6. Be patient, mindful, and watchful for pedestrians walking in, across, or through the circle drive at the beginning and the end of the day - especially small or young children.
