Dual Credit Opportunities

One course is currently offered at HCS for dual credit: Calculus. Southeast Community College awards the college credit and it is taught at school with Mrs. Buzek during the school day. Tuition for each class is around $200. Southeast Community College offers a variety of other classes through the SENCAP (Southeast Nebraska Career Academy Partnership) Career Academy path and DC Advantage path. If a student registers for a SENCAP/Career Academy course and passes/finishes the class, there is no tuition charged to the student.

SENCAP: Each year there are numerous courses offered by Southeast Community College for dual credit. Students are given a discount when taking these courses. SCC pays for half and Heartland pays for the other half as long as the student finishes the course with a C or better. The only cost for the student is the book. They are centered around these main career areas: Health Science, Business, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Education and Agriculture. Some courses are offered online, some meet face-to-face in York. Click here to find out more about the Career Academy and the free college tuition opportunities it offers. There are many other colleges that offer dual credit and college credit only opportunities to high school students. As with any credit a student may want to transfer, it is best to check with colleges to which you may want to transfer the credit to find out about that colleges transfer policies.
