FBLA MEMBER WINS NATIONAL AWARD IN SAN ANTONIO
Five Heartland Future Business Leaders of America members traveled to San Antonio, Texas, for the National Leadership Conference from June 28 to July 3. Colton Monnier, Grace Janzen, Odessa Ohrt, Dawson Ohrt and Kale Wetjen along with adviser Kristy Most experienced the weeklong conference activities. The group stayed at the Hilton Palacio del Rio located on San Antonio’s famous River Walk.
Senior Colton Monnier competed in Economics. He placed in the Top 10 by bringing home the eighth place trophy in this event. This was Colton’s second time attending a National Leadership Conference. He competed in Securities and Investments last summer.
Juniors Grace Janzen and Odessa Ohrt competed in Global Business. This was Grace’s first time attending a National Leadership Conference. Odessa has attended a National Leadership Conference for three years in a row. As a freshman she competed in Introduction to Business and as a sophomore she competed in Introduction to Information Technology.
Freshman Dawson Ohrt competed in Introduction to Business and freshman Kale Wetjen competed in Securities and Investments. This was their first time attending a National Leadership Conference.
The group enjoyed the following activities during the week: tour of The Alamo, SeaWorld, Go Rio River Cruise, dinner and games at Dave & Buster’s, Tower of the Americas, shopping at the Historic Market Square and wonderful meals at Joe’s Crab Shack, Lonestar Café and Smoke BBQ.
