FFA Hosted Barnyard on April 22

On April 22, the Heartland FFA hosted its annual barnyard for the elementary students.

With a variety of animals and educational booths, over 160 students from the daycare through sixth grade were able to learn about agriculture.

Aurora Coop challenged students to identify various agricultural plants.

Central Valley Ag reminded students about grain bin safety and brought in their fuel truck.

York County Farm Bureau and York County Extension quizzed students on agricultural topics and helped each student to make a corn germination necklace.

Owners and animals included:

Riley Quiring - Collie dog (Ryder)

Adi Duerksen - Cat (Nash)

Mary Dente - Cat (Stewart) and a Super M tractor

Dave May - Piglets

Marcia Traudt - Alpaca (Snoopy)

David Hiebner - Bottle calf (Hailey) and chickens

Brian Bearinger - Ewe with her two lambs

Visitors of the petting zoo also had the opportunity to interact with Pauncho, the bottle goat belonging to Jasper Kinsey and Brynlee Langley’s family.
