HCS Quiz Bowl at Seward

Heartland Community Schools had two teams compete in the Seward Quiz Bowl competition on Wednesday, October 22.

After three rounds of competition in the morning, the A team had a record of 2-1. The B team picked up an extra round and finished the morning 0-4 with two very tight matches.

The afternoon bracket was set up based on the performance from the morning rounds. The B team faced off against the A team from Shelby-Rising City and lost by one question.

The A team had a bye the first round and faced the B team from Oakland-Craig. The match went back and forth, and Oakland Craig answered the last question correctly to win by five points. The A team ended the day with a 2-2 record with both losses coming to the eventual runner-up team from Oakland-Craig.

Next week, the quiz bowl team will travel to compete in the Central City tournament on Wednesday, and the Mathematics team will travel to Lincoln to compete at UNL Math Day on Thursday. Those will be the final competitions of the fall semester.
