Quiz Bowl Team Wins in Seward
Heartland competed in a general knowledge quiz bowl tournament in Seward on Wednesday, September 18.
The "A" team of Austin Schmidt, Adi Duerksen, Kate Franz, and Tara Buzek finished the day undefeated with a record of 7-0. They had decisive wins over Howells-Dodge, Hampton, Osceola, Shelby-Rising City, Fullerton, and won the championship by defeating Shelton. They outscored their opponents 1,125 points to 180. They each earned a gold medal and brought home the trophy.
The "B" team of Andrew Onnen, Faith Hiebner, Riley Quiring, Emma Ott, and Rigs Newton finished the day 1-3. This came with a close loss by one question to Nebraska Lutheran and a close loss to the eventual 3rd place finisher, Osceola, in the elimination round.
The teams are coached by Mrs. Ruhl.
